Felix Tshisekedi hands over the presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) to his Angolan counterpart, João Lourenço

The ceremony took place on Thursday, August 17th, during the 43rd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the organization in Luanda.

Tshisekedi praised the SADC’s efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region, despite ongoing security threats in countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Mozambique.

He highlighted the importance of cultural activities, such as Miss SADC and the SADC Games, in promoting unity among member states. The summit’s theme was “Human and Financial Capital as Key Drivers of Sustainable Industrialization in the SADC Region.” Tshisekedi has been in Luanda since Wednesday.”
