Kinshasa: 25 suspected criminals arrested in Sangamamba and Fila

In order to combat the increasing insecurity in the neighborhoods of Sangamamba and Fila in the Ngaliema commune, the Congolese National Police (PNC) apprehended twenty-five (25) suspected criminals, including one woman, during an operation conducted from the night of August 16 to Thursday, August 17, 2023.

These suspected criminals, responsible for numerous cases of insecurity in the area, were intercepted while fighting, thanks to a local population alert. The police quickly intervened and managed to apprehend members of two rival gangs, namely Arabe and Soleil, led by certain individuals known as TV5 and Bébé, respectively, according to police sources.

Prior to their arrest during the clashes, loss of life and serious injuries were recorded, along with looting and burning of several houses.

The residents of the area praise the rapid, effective, and efficient intervention of the Congolese National Police, which swiftly saved lives. The suspects have been taken to the provincial police station before their cases are handed over to the judicial authorities in accordance with the charges against each individual.

It is worth noting that since taking office, Deputy Commissioner Blaise KILIMBALIMBA has made the fight against urban crime and the protection of the residents of Kinshasa and their property his top priority. This, along with maintaining order on the roads, is among the primary responsibilities of the Congolese National Police.

With recent significant arrests and a strong show of force by the law enforcement agencies, the commitment of the PNC to maintaining peace and security in Kinshasa is evident. It is crucial that such efforts continue in the future to ensure the safety and well-being of the city’s residents
