In total, two (2) ADF fighters surrendered on Sunday, August 6, to the joint FARDC-UPDF forces in the village of Marum, near Lume, in the territory of Beni in North Kivu.
This information was delivered by the spokesperson for the joint operations, Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay. So far, the spokesperson uses “otherwise unidentified” to refer to the status of the two subjects.
In the Mwalika valley this time, two other terrorists were killed by joint forces operating in this area. In addition to the deaths, a SMG weapon was recovered. The same feat resulted in the liberation of seven (7) people held hostage by the ADF.
Lieutenant Colonel Mak Hazukay informs that the search continues in this valley, to ensure that the ADF are no longer lurking. To this end, the coordination of the joint FARDC-UPDF operations praises the existing collaboration between the local population and the joint forces, for facilitating military operations in this part.
