Ituri: Insufficient School Infrastructure Among the Challenges to be Addressed in the Chieftaincy of Banyali-Tchabi

The insufficient school infrastructure in the chieftaincy of Banyali-Tchabi, in the Irumu territory (Ituri), is likely to have a negative impact on activities for the upcoming school year.

While the government is trying to solve the security problem in this area, which was plagued by ADF terrorist attacks, a new necessity has emerged. This time, it is the rehabilitation of school infrastructure. This challenge demonstrates the need for the government to support community reintegration, as indicated by the provincial coordinator of civil protection in the province of Ituri.

The support mentioned by Mr. Robert Ndalongo involves the rehabilitation of long-abandoned or destroyed school buildings and equipment by the ADF rebels. The SOS launched by this service for support and assistance in the reintegration of the education sector aligns with the wishes expressed by several school officials and returning families. They all support the resumption of school activities in the 2023-2024 academic year in the return zone, to secure the future of their children who lack access to education due to insecurity in this part of the Ituri province.

In the province of Ituri, it is worth noting that the education sector faces numerous problems beyond security issues in the territories. The availability of suitable buildings to accommodate children remains a major concern within the province.
