Measles: 5 to 10 children die every day in Kasaï

In the Kasaï province of the Democratic Republic of Congo, every day, 5 to 10 children die from the worst measles epidemic. This situation has been observed for over 5 months now. The city of Tshikapa is considered the epicenter of this disease.

According to sources from Kilalopress.net, children between the ages of zero (0) and six (6) are most affected by this disease. Even adults are not exempt.

This situation leaves parents uncertain about what to do to save their children’s lives. Desperately, they resort to traditional remedies to fight this epidemic that has become a scourge. The provincial health ministry has remained indifferent to this epidemic that is ravaging children in Tshikapa.

As of the writing of this article, there has been no communication from Ferdinand Mposhampa. According to the chief medical officer of the Kanzala health zone, Georges Miema Bushabu, who recently spoke to the press, the measles campaign could take place in October 2023.

While waiting for the vaccination campaign against this disease to be launched in October, the chief medical officer of the zone is asking all healthcare facility managers to report all measles cases for free treatment. It should be noted that at least 12 health zones in Kasaï are affected by this epidemic.
