The workshop brought together key stakeholders for the presentation of integrated programs, including its two projects, main components, implementation strategy, and institutional framework. Its goal is to announce the consultation process for project planning, mobilize stakeholders, share the theory of change, intervention strategy, and reinforce synergies and complementarity options for ongoing national projects.

The representative of the Secretary General for Environment and Sustainable Development emphasized the importance of stakeholder involvement in the process, inviting active participation in achieving the main objectives of the workshop.

Dr. Valentine Achancho, Country Director and Representative of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), highlighted the significance of this workshop in considering stakeholder expectations and identifying synergies and complementarities with other institutions.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) brings its expertise in promoting the benefits of healthy ecosystems, contributing to the goals of countries and the Global Environment Facility (GEF). It plays a key role in implementing projects funded by the GEF.

The Democratic Republic of Congo has joined the Integrated Programs (IP) on Critical Biomes of the Congo Basin and Ecosystem Restoration to develop CHILD projects at a transboundary level. These projects aim to merge resources to support ecosystem restoration and livelihood diversification.

This large-scale project will contribute to ecosystem restoration and conservation of natural resources while promoting local development, food security, and climate change mitigation in the DRC.
